5 steps to effective lightning ...A philosophical approach to lighting techniques

When broken down to its simplest form all considerations of lighting for still photography can be broken down to a 5 step set of decisions. Im also saying that an understanding of the steps only implies an understanding of the problem which may have solutions which are completely situational and endless in possibility. That being said

Step 1-Consideration of Ambient light sources. To include or exclude natural occuring sources of illumination.

Step 2- Diffusing of light sources. What devices are you selecting to alter the quality of light.

Step 3- Placement of the main light source. Using the dirrection of light to set the architecture of lighting design.



Step 4-control of contrast radio between multiple light sources.

Step 5-Seperation-creating a three dimensional representation
